Hi my name is Theo,
I am 14 and on the 17th July 2015 I'm attending a trip organised by The Cred Foundation. I am flying out to Bulgaria and helping teach children at a school whilst their mothers are learning new skills to support their families and be self sufficent.
How old are the children?
The children we meet and teach are from the age of 4 to the age of 17.
Why have Cred set up this organisation?
Stara Zagora is home to the largest community of Roma people in Bulgaria, and the living standard for most of them is one of extreme poverty. They are also very ostracised by the local Bulgarians and experience a lot of stigma against them.
Access to education is hard, and unemployment is very high. Their prospects of getting out of poverty are very low.
What happens when we are there?
The Bulgaria CRED Team Trip is an opportunity to travel to Stara Zagora in Bulgaria and we will spend a week working with the children and delivering high-quality educational activities, fun and games to Roma children at one of the schools in the community.
Facilitated by FSCI, a partner of CRED Foundation, the children we will be working with live in chronic poverty, and are marginalised within their community; this week will be the closest they come to getting a holiday
Why do I want to be involved?
I am very passionate about the Cred Foundation. I want to help children who otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity of education.
What is Cred?
The projects Cred support provide grass roots opportunities for Education, Employment, Environmental Sustainability, & Community Development. Along with supporting the most vulnerable, they also demonstrate that - with the right training, resources & opportunities - people from developing nations are often the best solution to their own problems.
What do I need?
My target is to raise £1000.00 for Cred Foundation.
How am I going to do this?
I am going to be fundraising in many ways including; sponsored cycle, cake sales, a clothes swap and a pop up restaraunt.
I will update this soon...
