How to choose Internet Explorer 64 bit version

17 September,2014 by Tom Collins

Question: An inventory application using a SQL Server backend is rendering the results through Internet Explorer very slowly. I raised a call with the DBA who showed me the response times through SSMS, which were fast. He recommended I use Internet Explorer 64 bit rather than 32 bit. How can I obtain?

Answer: I’m assuming you’re using Windows 7 64 bit, with Internet Explorer installed.  You’re probably using the iexplore.exe found on the 32 bit path rather than the 64 bit path.

The Internet Explorer32 bit path

C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

The internet Explorer 64 bit path

C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

On Internet Explorer | Help | About Internet Explorer the 64 bit version has added text.

Even if the 64 bit version doesn’t solve your rendering issue – the general response times of activity through Internet Explorer will improve

Ie_64_bit
