I’m writing a Operational DBA job description – for an internal vacancy. The main requirements are listed below. Without getting into the specifics of the organisation – there is : 1 Database Architect\Senior DBA, 1 DBA and 1 Data Architect in a Enterprise Production environment supporting SQL Server and DB2
Please comment on attributes and add feedback
Performs installation, configuration, support of production databases as per requirement
Ensuring proper storage for the database
Ensure performance criteria and SLAs are met
Interfacing with any other technologies required by database applications.
Installing third-party DBA tools.
Review technical documentation for accuracy and completeness.
Monitor and act on critical production issues.Researching and resolving the most critical, urgent and difficult Helpdesk Requests.
Demonstrated Windows and Linux skills with a strong understanding of software installation and configuration in a multi-user network environment
Excellent teamwork, communication, and documentation skills
Should have 5+ years of experience in production support role supporting Linux,windows 2003/2008, SQL Server 2000-2005-2008, DB2 9.5 in a large scale 24x7 operations/production environment.
